Comeup Winches, Hoists and Accessories
Proven Winching and Lifting Solutions by COMEUP
For over 40 years, COMEUP has built a strong name for quality winches and hoists. The company started in Taiwan in 1975 and has grown into one of the most trusted brands for 4WD drivers, industrial workers, and rescue teams. Every COMEUP product is made to handle Australia’s rough terrain and tough work conditions.
COMEUP designs, engineers, and assembles all its winches in-house. This means they control every step, from raw materials to final testing. Their factories are ISO 9001 certified and use testing systems that meet global standards like CE, SAE J706, and EN14492-1. The result is gear you can rely on, tested, safe, and built to last.
At 4x4 Down Under, we stock a wide range of COMEUP gear for both everyday users and professionals. You’ll find small ATV winches, heavy-duty 4WD recovery winches, and powerful electric hoists for workshops and job sites. Each unit includes tough components like sealed motors, steel planetary gearboxes, and mechanical brakes for smooth, steady control. Whether you’re pulling a boat, lifting equipment, or recovering a 4WD, COMEUP gear gets the job done.
4WD & Off-Road Winches
The COMEUP Seal Gen2 Series is made for serious off-road use. It has an IP68 water and dust rating, automatic load-holding brakes, and strong synthetic or steel cable options. It’s perfect for touring setups, worksites, and recovery situations where reliability matters.
ATV & Utility Winches
The COMEUP Cub and DV Series winches are compact and powerful. They’re ideal for quad bikes, side-by-sides, trailers, and small machinery. These models use strong gears and reliable brakes to provide steady pulling power when you need it most.
Industrial Hoists & Lifting Solutions
COMEUP’s electric hoists are built for trades and industry. Models like the GTD-1200 and GTD-2200 lift from 500 kg up to 2,200 kg with ease. They feature efficient gearing, low power draw, and dependable braking systems. These hoists are perfect for workshops, service trucks, and site lifting jobs.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long has Comeup been making winches, and why does that matter?
Comeup has been manufacturing winches in Taiwan since 1975, giving them over 45 years of continuous production. In that time they've supplied winches to military operators, emergency services, and serious off-road users across more than 80 countries. That kind of track record matters when you're buying a recovery winch. It's not a brand that appeared overnight to chase the 4x4 trend, and the engineering reflects that. Every unit we stock from Comeup has gone through genuine real-world validation, not just a brochure spec sheet.
Which Comeup winch is right for my 4WD?
The rule we tend to go by is 1.5 times your vehicle's GVM. Most loaded 4WDs sit between 3,000kg and 4,500kg, which puts you squarely in the Seal Gen2 or Walrus 18.0 territory. If you're running a heavily modified rig, a camper trailer, or anything genuinely heavy, step up to the Walrus 22.0. For ATV, UTV, or smaller trailer use, the Cub series covers 2,000lb to 4,000lb and fits where the big winches won't. If you're still not sure, give us a call. We'd rather spend five minutes helping you get it right than have you order the wrong unit.
What's the difference between the Seal Gen2 and the Walrus series?
The Seal Gen2 is Comeup's premium 4WD recovery winch and comes with synthetic rope as standard. That means no coil memory, cooler operation on the drum, and much safer handling if the line lets go under load. The Walrus series is built for severe-duty work: heavier construction, higher line pull (up to 22,000lb on the 24V model), and steel cable for maximum abrasion resistance. In our experience, the Seal Gen2 suits the vast majority of recreational 4WD users very well. The Walrus is the one to look at if you're doing regular hard recoveries, running remote country, or pulling significant load on a regular basis.
Will a Comeup 4WD winch fit my bullbar?
Most Comeup 4WD winches use a standard SAE J684 mounting footprint, which is the same pattern the majority of quality Australian bullbar manufacturers design around. We've fitted Comeup winches to ARB, Ironman, TJM, and a range of other bars without any drama. That said, always cross-check the drum width and fairlead mounting centres against your specific bar before ordering. If you're not certain, flick us your bullbar make and model and we'll confirm fit before you buy.
What are the Comeup GTD hoists typically used for?
More than most people expect, honestly. We sell a lot of GTD hoists to tradies and small workshops for lifting engines, gearboxes, and heavy fabrication components. Farmers use them in sheds for loading equipment and moving heavy parts without needing a second person. We also see them used in camper trailer and caravan builds where a compact, low-voltage hoist makes more sense than anything mains-powered. Anywhere you need to move a load vertically on a regular basis and you want something built to last, the GTD range is worth a serious look.
How do I choose the right GTD model for my needs?
Start with the load you're actually lifting, then add a buffer. The GTD-650 at 295kg suits lighter workshop tasks including generator lifts, smaller components, and general shed use. The GTD-1200 at 544kg covers most engine and gearbox work for standard passenger vehicles and 4WDs. If you're regularly lifting heavier assemblies, full engine and transmission combinations, or working with larger diesel plant, the GTD-2200 at 998kg is where we'd point you. The GTD-2800 at 1,270kg is the heavy end of the range and runs on 24V only, so it suits installations where a 24V power source is already available, including larger trucks, commercial fit-outs, and fixed workshop rigs wired for it. The GTD-650, 1200, and 2200 all offer both 12V and 24V options, which gives you flexibility depending on your setup.
Can I use a Comeup electric recovery winch as a hoist?
No, and this is worth being clear about. Vehicle-mounted recovery winches aren't designed or rated for overhead vertical lifting. If you need a hoist, Comeup's GTD series is the right product. The GTD range runs from 650lb up to 2,800lb capacity, operates on 12V or 24V, and is built with the load-holding characteristics you need for safe vertical use. Using a recovery winch in a hoist application is a genuine safety risk, and it's not something we'd recommend regardless of the pull rating.
Are Comeup remote controls interchangeable between models?
Not universally, and this is an important one to get right before ordering. Comeup remote controls are matched to specific winch series. The RF-24D suits the Cub ATV range. The RF-24DP-A and RF-24DP-C wireless remotes are for 4WD and severe-duty winches but use different connector configurations (3-pin vs 6-pin), so they're not interchangeable with each other either. Before buying a replacement or upgrade remote, check your winch model against the compatibility notes on the product page. If there's any doubt, contact us and we'll make sure you're getting the right unit.
