What is the difference between a bullbar, a nudge bar and a prerunner bar?

A bullbar is a heavier frame built for front-end protection and equipment mounting, usually with a winch cradle, lights and recovery points. A nudge bar is a lighter hoop that protects the grille area and suits town driving and light tracks. A prerunner bar sits in between: a high-clearance bar with a protective hoop, a winch cradle and lighting, designed to keep airflow to the radiator.

How to choose the right front bar

Start with how you use the vehicle. If it is mostly daily driving with the odd dirt road, a nudge bar gives you grille protection and a place to mount LED lights without the weight of a full bullbar. If you drive regional roads, tour remotely or want to carry a winch, a bullbar or prerunner bar is the better fit.

Airbags, ADR and fitting

In Australia, a vehicle fitted with airbags can only take a bullbar that the vehicle maker has certified, that the bar maker designed for that model, or that the bar maker has shown does not affect crash compliance or airbag timing.
