Essentially a recovery snatch strap is a stretchy piece of gear made from durable materials like nylon or polyester that helps pull your vehicle out of whatever tricky spot its found itself in. You hook one end to your cars recovery point, and the other end to a mates vehicle and then use a winch (or just his/her vehicle) to pull yourself out. As the strap stretches and recoils, it gives a jerking motion that helps "snatch" you out of your predicament.
