Extreme Recovery Towbar and Direct Fit Wiring Harness for Toyota Hilux (10/2015 - on) Styleside by TAG

Tub and styleside Hilux models need a different towbar to cab chassis versions, and this TAG Extreme Recovery (XR) kit is built specifically for Hilux Tub/Styleside models from July 2015 on. It pairs a Class 4, 50mm square hitch receiver rated to 3500kg towing and 350kg ball weight with a direct fit ECU wiring harness.

The crossbar here is 75mm x 75mm rather than the 89mm x 89mm section used on the cab chassis kits, sized to suit the styleside tub mounting points. Two WLL 4000kg load-rated recovery points are still built into the design, with bevelled edges shaped for a soft shackle. Fitting requires removing the rear bumper.

The wiring harness uses automatic reverse sensor and fog light cut off, so towing lights and reversing sensors work correctly without manual switching. Budget around 90 minutes in a workshop for the full fit.

No. This kit is built specifically for Hilux Tub/Styleside models from July 2015 on, using a 75mm x 75mm crossbar sized for that body style. Cab chassis Hilux models use a different TAG kit with an 89mm x 89mm crossbar.

Does fitting this towbar require removing the rear bumper?

Does the wiring cut off my reversing sensors automatically when towing?

Yes. This kit uses a direct fit ECU wiring harness with automatic reverse sensor cut off and automatic fog light cut off.

Can the recovery points be used for snatch recovery?
