Retrax PowertraxPRO MX Electric Aluminum Retractable Bed Cover for Silverado 1500

The PowertraxPRO MX comes with the retractable aluminium bed cover, the canister housing unit, mounting hardware, and a wireless key fob for electric operation. The integrated LED cargo light is built into the canister. T-slot accessories and crossbars are not included.

Using the included wireless key fob, the cover opens and closes at the touch of a button. An electromagnetic brake allows it to lock in any position along the rail, so you can leave it partially open for taller loads. The LED cargo light in the canister is also controlled via the fob, with a safety auto shutoff built in.

The PowertraxPRO MX features a patented low-profile, flush-front panel that creates a firm seal along the bed rails, designed to keep the bed dry under normal rain conditions. Like most retractable covers, we treat it as highly water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. Heavy downpours or pressure washing directed at the seals may allow minor moisture ingress.

The PowertraxPRO MX is built from industrial-strength aluminium slats engineered for durability, but Retrax does not rate these covers for standing or concentrated dynamic loads. Applying body weight directly to the slats can stress the cover and track system. If you need to access the bed from above, we recommend opening the cover fully first.

The RetraxPRO MX is the manual version of this cover. It uses the same industrial aluminium slat construction, low-profile design, and matte finish, but is opened and closed by hand. The PowertraxPRO MX adds electric operation via the key fob, an electromagnetic brake for partial-opening positions, and an integrated LED cargo light. If hands-free convenience matters for your setup, the electric version is the upgrade.

The PowertraxPRO MX locks via the electromagnetic brake, which holds the cover in any position along the rail when the fob is used to close it. The aluminium slat construction provides meaningful resistance against opportunistic access compared to soft roll-up or folding covers. It is a solid deterrent for everyday use, though it is not designed as a replacement for a dedicated lockbox for high-value gear.

Yes. When fully retracted, the cover coils into the canister housing at the cab end of the bed, giving you access to most of the cargo area, apart from the space occupied by the canister. You can also stop it at any intermediate position using the electromagnetic brake, which is useful when hauling taller items that still benefit from partial coverage over the front section.
