Retrax PowertraxONE MX Electric Bed Cover for RAM 1500 DT 6'4 w/out RAMBOX

This cover is designed for the RAM 1500 DT (2019+) with the 6'4" bed, without the RamBox storage option fitted. If your RAM has RamBox compartments integrated into the bed sides, the tub and rail dimensions differ and you will need the RamBox-compatible version. The PowertraxONE MX opens and closes via the included wireless key fob. A single button press drives the cover open or closed. An electromagnetic brake locks it in any position along the rail, so you can stop the cover partway open to accommodate taller gear without needing to hold it in place manually.

Polycarbonate is used in the ONE MX specifically for its impact resistance. It is the same class of material used in safety glasses and automotive panels, designed to absorb impacts without cracking. It is rated to perform between -45 and +93 degrees C. Aluminium (used in the PRO Series) is generally stiffer under concentrated load, but polycarbonate handles sudden knocks well. For most touring, camping, and tradie use, the polycarbonate construction is well within its design intent.

Yes. The PowertraxONE MX includes an LED cargo light integrated into the canister housing at the cab end of the bed. It is controlled by the same wireless key fob as the cover itself and shuts off automatically to prevent battery drain. In practice it is a genuinely useful feature for accessing the bed after dark or in poorly lit areas.

The difference is your RAM's tray length. The 6'4" configuration is the longer cargo bed option; the 5'7" is the shorter crew cab bed. You can confirm which you have by measuring the tray from the inside of the cab bulkhead to the inside face of the tailgate, or by checking your vehicle's build sheet or registration papers. Choosing the wrong size means the cover will not align to your bed rails correctly.

The PowertraxONE MX uses a patented low-profile flush-front panel that creates a firm seal along the bed rails when closed, designed to keep the bed dry under normal rain conditions. The seamless one-piece polycarbonate construction avoids joints or hinges where dust can accumulate. Like most retractable covers, we treat it as highly water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. Directing a pressure washer directly at the seals may allow minor moisture ingress.

Yes. When fully retracted, the cover coils into the canister housing at the cab end of the bed, leaving most of the 6'4" cargo area accessible, apart from the space taken up by the canister at the cab end. The electromagnetic brake also lets you stop it at any intermediate position along the rail for partial coverage of taller loads.

The sealed ball-bearing roller system and one-piece polycarbonate construction are designed to operate without springs or exposed moving parts that can freeze or wear out. Routine care involves keeping the rail channels clear of debris and applying a suitable lubricant to the rails and seals periodically per Retrax's recommendations. Checking the clamp-on mounting hardware after extended off-road use is also worthwhile.
