The PowertraxONE MX is an electric retractable truck bed cover from our premium Polycarbonate Series. Built with tough polycarbonate panels, it delivers exceptional impact resistance and outstanding UV protection—engineered to perform in extreme conditions, from -45°C to +93°C.

Designed for both durability and style, the PowertraxONE MX features a rugged matte finish and the convenience of electric operation. With just the push of a button on the included wireless key fob, you can easily open and close the cover—no manual handling required.

This smart cover also includes an integrated LED cargo light built into the canister, which is controlled via the key fob and features a safety auto shut-off function. An electromagnetic brake lets you lock the cover in any position along the rail, giving you maximum flexibility when it comes to hauling gear of all shapes and sizes.

What is the difference between the RAM 1500 DS and DT, and how do I know which one I have?

This cover (model 70234) is designed for the RAM 1500 DS, the generation of RAM 1500 sold in Australia prior to the 2019 refresh. The DS has a more traditional radiator grille profile. The DT is the current-generation RAM 1500 (2019+) with a wider, redesigned grille and different bed dimensions. If you are running a DT, check our dedicated RAM 1500 DT listings instead, as the fitment is not interchangeable.

What is included with the cover?

The PowertraxONE MX comes with the retractable polycarbonate bed cover, the canister housing unit, mounting hardware, and a wireless key fob for electric operation. The integrated LED cargo light is built into the canister and is also controlled via the fob, with a safety auto shutoff. Professional installation is recommended.

How tough is the polycarbonate for off-road use?

The polycarbonate used in the PowertraxONE MX is engineered to perform between -45 and +93 degrees C, which covers the extreme temperature range encountered across Australia. The one-piece construction means there are no joints or hinges to crack, freeze, or trap debris. For off-road use on corrugated tracks, polycarbonate handles vibration well. We suggest checking the mounting hardware periodically after extended rough terrain driving to confirm nothing has worked loose.

How does the integrated LED cargo light work?

The LED cargo light is built into the canister housing at the cab end of the bed. It is operated by the same wireless key fob used to open and close the cover, and includes an automatic safety shutoff to prevent the vehicle battery from draining if left on. In practice it provides useful illumination when accessing the bed at night or in low-light conditions.

Can I carry tall gear with the cover partially open?

Yes. The electromagnetic brake lets you stop and lock the cover in any position along the rail. For loads that do not fit fully within the closed bed, you can open the cover as far as needed and lock it in place, leaving part of the bed exposed for taller items while the front section remains covered.

Is professional installation necessary, or can I fit it myself?

Retrax and our team recommend professional installation for this cover to ensure correct alignment of the mounting system, proper seal performance, and reliable operation of the electric mechanism. While the clamp-on system does not require drilling, correct installation significantly affects how well the cover seals and performs over time. We recommend following the professional installation guidance supplied with the product.
