Frequently Asked Questions

What is the rated weight capacity?

The Spydura Pro is rated at 16,500lbs (approximately 7,484kg). This is the rope's rated load capacity. Working loads in recovery use should remain a fraction of this figure. Compare this to your winch's rated line pull to confirm the rope is appropriate for your setup.

What does "heat treated" mean for this rope's construction?

Heat treating the Spectra 1000 fibres is designed to maximise tensile strength and load bearing capacity. Warn states the heat treatment process improves the rope's performance under sustained load compared to untreated synthetic rope of the same material.

What does "compacted diameter" mean in practical terms?

Compacting the rope during manufacture increases the density of the braid, resulting in a tighter, more uniform diameter. This reduces the space between fibres, which helps prevent sand and dirt from penetrating the core. Reducing contamination is intended to extend the rope's working life and help maintain its rated strength over time.

Does this rope come with a hook?

This rope does not include an integral hook. A separate hook or shackle is needed to connect to a recovery point. If you are replacing an existing rope on a Warn winch, your current hook should transfer if it is in good condition.

What is the difference between Spydura Pro and the standard Spydura (model 87915)?

The Spydura Pro uses heat-treated Spectra 1000 fibre with a compacted diameter, which Warn states delivers higher tensile strength and better resistance to dirt penetration than the standard Spydura. The Pro is shorter at 24m versus 30m for the 87915 and is priced accordingly higher. If maximum rated performance is the priority, the Pro is the higher-specification option within the Warn rope range.

Do I need a hawse fairlead for this rope?

Yes. All synthetic winch rope, including Spydura Pro, is designed for use with a hawse (aluminium) fairlead. If your winch currently runs a roller fairlead for steel cable, replace it with a compatible Warn hawse fairlead before fitting this rope.

How do I care for a heat-treated synthetic rope?

Rinse the rope after use in mud, salt, or sand and dry it fully before storing. Inspect the rope body, sleeves, thimble, and attachment points before each outing. Avoid running the rope over sharp or rough contact edges where possible, and check for any signs of heat discolouration near the drum or fairlead area after heavy winching. For full maintenance guidance, refer to Warn's care instructions for Spydura Pro.

Why Shop at 4x4 Down Under?

We know that you have a lot of options out there, and we’re incredibly grateful that you’re considering spending your hard earned money with us. We like to think we stand out from the crowd in a few ways.

Excellent & Honest Service

We try and provide the best pre and after sales service possible. If you have a question we’re here to help, and if we don’t know the answer we’ll tell you and then do our absolute best to find the answer for you. We’re also here to guide you to the best possible outcome for you. A lot of stores will simply try to up-sell you on the most expensive option. That’s not how we operate. We want to build a relationship with our customers, and the only way to do that is by being honest and direct.

4x4 Down Under is built on honesty and integrity. For example when you make a purchase with us we only charge your account once we confirm the product is ready for dispatch. Although we like to guarantee everything on our store is available we’re not perfect and mistakes do happen. If something turns out to not be available we’ll let you know immediately and you have the option to cancel your order or wait for more stock to arrive. Should you not want to wait the order is voided, and there’s no waiting a week to get your money back (it’s instant!).

Aussie and Proud!

We're Australians, and we like to support our fellow Australians, which is why all our products are sourced locally from the official Australian distributors. Nothing is imported directly and we don't stock any grey imports. This also means that all manufacturer warranties are fully honored by the brands themselves.

No Sales Gimmicks

When you shop at 4x4 Down Under you don’t have to worry about:
  • Annoying and dishonest ’Sales Timers’ that simply reset every few hours and are there to coerce you into buying.
  • Dishonest “low stock” labels, another coercive sales gimmick.
  • False “John just bought a…” alerts. Our customer alerts (bottom left) are 100% true and we're proud of them.
  • Being bombarded by trust badges and labels everywhere you look that mean nothing.
  • We don't spam! Your information is safe with us. It will never be shared or sold, or used to fill your inbox with garbage.

We've partnered with some of Australia's best couriers and freight agents to ensure your purchase reaches you in super-quick time. Once your order has been dispatched you'll receive tracking information which will allow you to track your order online every step of the way.
