Frequently Asked Questions
What is the rated line pull and what does 25,000lb actually handle?
The EWB25000 is rated to 25,000lb (11,340kg) on the first layer — 11.3 tonnes. This is Runva's largest electric winch, built for fully loaded expedition Unimogs, large tow trucks, military vehicles, marine applications and heavy commercial plant. At this capacity it will recover or reposition almost anything a private or commercial operator is likely to encounter in Australia.
What's the difference between the 12V and 24V versions?
Both deliver the same 25,000lb rated pull. The 12V motor is 5.5kW/7.4HP and the 24V is 6.1kW/8.2HP. At this capacity the 24V version is strongly preferred for commercial applications — it draws less current, generates less heat in wiring, and is standard for large trucks and commercial vehicles already running 24V systems. A 12V setup at 25,000lb requires very substantial wiring and battery upgrades.
What bolt pattern does this winch use?
Dual mounting patterns: 254mm x 114.3mm and 254mm x 190.5mm, with 8x M12 bolts. Overall dimensions are 638mm x 298mm x 300mm and shipping weight is 95kg. This is a very large, heavy winch not suited to standard bull bar fitment. It's designed for custom commercial mounts and expedition vehicle front carriers. Professional mounting is strongly recommended.
Is the air clutch available for this winch?
Yes — the EWB25000 Premium is fully compatible with Runva's optional air clutch for in-cab freespool control. An optional cable tensioner is also available for commercial applications requiring consistent, even spooling. Both are listed as optional extras.
Does this winch carry IP67 protection?
Yes — full IP67 ingress protection throughout. Runva's advanced ratchet braking system in the gearbox (same brake as in their vertical lifting winches), stainless steel rotary clutch, and matt black powder coat finish. Built for confidence in extreme conditions.
What applications and vehicles is the EWB25000 recommended for?
Expedition Unimogs, Iveco Dailys, heavy tow trucks, marine and boat recovery, military vehicles, and any application where a 17,500–20,000lb winch doesn't give you enough margin. For standard touring 4WD recovery, the 11XP or 13XP Premium is far more practical and cost-effective.
What wiring and battery upgrades are required?
At 25,000lb capacity, current draw is extreme. Battery leads must be 70mm² or heavier, and the battery bank must be matched to your system voltage with adequate CCA. On 12V this is a particularly demanding setup — the 24V version is significantly more practical for commercial applications. Have an auto electrician design and verify the wiring before commissioning.
What warranty applies?
Private and recreational use: limited 5-year electrical and lifetime mechanical warranty. Commercial use: limited 18-month commercial warranty.
