Does this cover fit all 2021+ Tundra 5'5" configurations, or are there exceptions?
This cover is designed for the 2021+ Toyota Tundra with a 5'5" bed and Deck Rail System. It will NOT fit Tundra models with trail special edition storage boxes. If your Tundra has those factory storage boxes in the tub, this product is not compatible.
How does the EZ-OFF canister removal work on the Tundra, and where does the canister go when removed?
The canister lifts out using integrated handles with no tools required, freeing up 100% of the 5'5" tub for oversized or unrestricted loads. Once removed, the canister stands on its own integrated feet, so it can be stored upright in a shed, garage, or workshop. Having a second person when moving the canister makes the process easier given its size.
Can the cover be locked at partial open positions on the Tundra?
Yes. The TraxLatch key-locking handle allows you to secure the cover at multiple positions along the rails — not just fully open or fully closed. This is useful when carrying mixed loads where you want protection over part of the bed while keeping the rear section accessible.
The Tundra is often used in wet or coastal environments. How does the FRC-4000 hold up in those conditions?
The double-walled aluminium slats are finished in a durable black powder coat that is designed for corrosion resistance, which is an advantage in coastal or high-humidity environments. The CoreTrax sealed stainless steel ball-bearing rollers are also designed to operate without maintenance in varying conditions. Periodic cleaning of the rails and seal area to remove salt and debris will help maintain performance over time.
How does the integrated water management system work? Will my gear stay dry in heavy rain?
The water management system is designed to channel water that gets past the seals into built-in drainage tubes that direct it away from the tub. The cover is intended to be highly water-resistant under typical rain and wash conditions. It's not rated for water immersion or creek crossings. For those situations the drainage system manages splash rather than acting as a fully sealed barrier, so gear that needs to stay completely dry should be in sealed containers as an additional precaution.
Is the FRC-4000 compatible with a factory bed liner on the Tundra?
The cover clamps to the top of the bed rails, so a spray-in liner below the rail surface generally won't interfere with installation. A drop-in liner with a raised top rail cap may affect how the side rails sit and could reduce sealing performance. Check your liner's top rail profile against the installation specifications, or contact us before purchasing to confirm compatibility with your specific setup.
Can I add a crossbar or rack system to the FRC-4000 on the Tundra?
Yes. The FRC-4000 includes T-slot side rails compatible with crossbar and rack accessories from a range of brands. Accessories mounted to the T-slot rails can typically be used while the cover is installed. Confirm the channel width compatibility and load rating of your specific rack system against the FRC-4000's rail specs before purchasing.
I have a 2023 Tundra CrewMax and I tow a caravan regularly. Is the FRC-4000 going to interfere with my tow setup?
The FRC-4000 mounts to the bed rails and doesn't interact with the hitch or towbar setup, so there's no physical conflict with a standard tow configuration. The T-slot rails sit above the tub sides and don't extend past the tailgate. The main consideration is tailgate operation, the cover is designed to clear the standard Tundra tailgate. If you run a specific tailgate accessory or extended step setup, confirm clearance with us before purchasing.
