If mounting the tank inside a vehicle we highly recommend using our optional vent extension kit (part no FTUVK, or see bundle below) which can either extend the location of the standard vent or more preferably allow the tank to be connected to the vehicles main fuel tank ventilation system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this tank actually fit behind the front seats of my ute or wagon?

The FTP40FW is shaped specifically for footwell installation behind front seats. It measures 190mm high, 250mm wide, and 1200mm long, with a tunnel cutout of 110mm H x 420mm W at the base and a console cutout of 60mm H x 200mm W. Measure your footwell carefully against these dimensions before purchasing — most dual-cab utes accommodate it, but fitment varies by model.

Do I need a fuel transfer pump to run this tank?

No pump required. The FTP40FW uses a simple gravity fuel feed. You run a fuel line from the half-inch BSPT brass outlet, positioned at either end of the tank, down to your main tank or engine fuel line. No electrical work needed.

Is the vent extension kit included, or is that extra?

The vent extension kit (part no. FTUVK) is sold separately. For interior vehicle installations, we strongly recommend it. It either extends the vent location to a safe position or, ideally, connects the tank to your vehicle's main fuel tank ventilation system, which is the preferred approach for cabin-mounted setups.

How is the tank secured inside the vehicle?

The FTP40FW comes with pre-installed nutserts for handles and mounting points. You secure it using straps bolted through those points. The ribbed top panel is load-bearing, so gear stacked on top won't deform the tank.

How do I access fuel from both sides of the tank when the transmission tunnel recess splits it in the middle?

The tank has a 1/2" BSPT brass outlet at each end, one on either side of the tunnel recess. For a gravity feed setup, connect a hose to each outlet and join them with a Y-fitting before your fuel line. For a pump setup, do the same and connect the pump after the Y. This draws from both sides simultaneously, so fuel below the recess level isn't left stranded on the far side. Use a blanking plug with the tank if you choose to use a single outlet however for most installations, connecting both is the better approach.

Does the tank come with a filler cap included?

Yes. A screw cap filler is included with the tank, so you can fill it in place without purchasing additional hardware.

Can this be used as a permanent auxiliary tank inside the vehicle?

Yes, that is exactly what it is designed for. For permanent interior installations, connect it to your vehicle's main fuel ventilation system via the vent extension kit. This is the recommended approach for both safety and compliance with Australian vehicle modification standards.

Is this tank for diesel only, or can it carry petrol?

This tank is designed and sold for diesel use only.

What warranty applies to the Boab 40L footwell tank?

Boab tanks are covered by a 12 month manufacturer's warranty.

Order Dispatch

Orders are usually dispatched within 1-3 business days. Should there be any delays we will let you know immediately.

In order to get your purchase to you as promptly and safely as possible we utilise a number of trusted and reputable courier services, including Australia Post (depending on the item and your location). These delivery services should have your item delivered to your door within 2 - 10 working days depending on your location. In some cases where the address is based in the more regional parts of Australia this may take longer. Should the delivery time take longer than we would like we will let you know.

As soon as the item has been shipped we will provide you with a tracking number via email. You can then use this number to watch your item make it's way toward your location. It should also give you a clear idea of when to expect your item.

Depending on the item we may contact you to arrange delivery. In order to ensure your purchase lands in the correct hands we will require a signature from you on delivery. If you are not home on delivery the postman/courier will leave a card with collection details.
