The Carbon Offroad 6000lb Capacity 12v Winch for Small 4WDs, Caravans, Trailers, Boats and More

A small compact winch with integrated mounting plate makes mounting this winch as simple as it can get to an existing pedestal on a trailer, or into a winch location on a small form factor bar.

With wireless and wired remote control included free, it's a very versatile winch setup. Perfect for small car and equipment trailers, great to mount in the back of a van to help load heavy equipment and has even been used to load tinny's and open cattle gates on Livestock Truck Trailers.

A great small all rounder winch to make work easier or to get your Jimny or trailer out of the bog.

The Carbon Offroad 6000lb Electric Winch boasts an array of impressive features and benefits:

  • Flawless Performance: Thanks to its sealed motor and geartrain, this winch operates flawlessly even in the harshest conditions. It's built to withstand extreme environments, ensuring reliability when you need it most.
  • Powerful Torque: Equipped with a permanent magnet motor, this winch delivers heavy-duty torque, enhancing its pulling power. Tackle challenging loads with confidence, knowing that this winch is up to the task.
  • Silent Free-Spooling: The winch's cam action disengages gears, enabling near-silent free-spooling. Say goodbye to disruptive noise and focus on getting the job done smoothly.
  • Enhanced Control: With both mechanical and dynamic brake systems, this winch offers increased control during operations. You can rely on its braking mechanisms to prevent rollback and maintain stability.

Frequently Asked Questions

What vehicles and applications is the Carbon 6K winch suited to?

The CW-XD6 is designed for small 4WDs, caravans, trailers, boats, and similar lighter applications. It's been used on Suzuki Jimnys, mounted in vans for loading heavy gear, on boat trailers, and on livestock trailers for operating cattle gates. The compact dimensions (385 x 115 x 119mm) and integrated mounting plate make it a practical fit for small-form-factor bars and trailer pedestals.

Is 6,000lb enough pulling power for a Suzuki Jimny or similar light 4WD?

Yes, 6,000lb (2,725kg) is well suited to a Jimny and most light 4WDs. A good rule of thumb is to run a winch rated at 1.5 times the gross vehicle mass, a Jimny sits around 1,400kg GVM, which puts the 6K in a comfortable margin. For more demanding recoveries on a heavier-laden vehicle, a snatch block doubles effective pulling capacity to 12,000lb if you need it.

What IP rating does the CW-XD6 carry and can it handle water crossings?

The CW-XD6 is rated IP66 for the winch body and solenoid (the remote control and switch are excluded from this rating). IP66 means fully protected against dust ingress and against powerful water jets from any direction, suitable for water crossings and muddy conditions. It's not rated for prolonged submersion, so avoid running the winch submerged for extended periods.

What rope length and diameter comes with the CW-XD6?

The CW-XD6 ships with 16m of 6.5mm diameter synthetic rope. For most trailer and light 4WD applications 16m is sufficient, though if your recovery scenarios involve longer distances to an anchor point, aftermarket 6.5mm synthetic rope is easy to source. Synthetic rope is the right choice here: lighter, safer, no sharp burrs, and it floats.

What remote control options are included with the 6K winch?

Both a wireless remote control and a handlebar mini-rocker switch are included in the box at no extra cost. The mini-rocker is ideal for ATV-style or fixed mounting applications, while the wireless gives you the flexibility to operate from a distance. Both remotes control power in and power out.

What's the warranty on the Carbon Offroad 6K?

The CW-XD6 comes with a lifetime mechanical warranty and a 5 year electrical warranty. That's the same warranty tier as Carbon's larger 4x4 winch range, which reflects the quality of components used regardless of the winch's compact size.

What's the mounting bolt pattern and will it fit my trailer pedestal or compact bar?

The CW-XD6 uses a mounting bolt pattern of 167mm x 76mm with an integrated mounting plate, designed for trailer pedestals, small-form-factor bars, and ATV mounting locations. Measure your mounting point before ordering, this is a different pattern to the standard 254mm x 114.3mm used on full-size 4x4 winches, so it won't be a drop-in on a full-size bullbar winch mount.

What battery do I need and can I run the 6K off a standard vehicle battery?

Carbon recommends a minimum of 650 CCA for winching. At rated load the winch draws up to 240 amps, which is well within what most standard 12V vehicle batteries handle for typical pulling durations. Ensure your wiring and fusing are appropriate for the current draw, follow Carbon's installation guide for cable sizing and battery connection.

No Sales Gimmicks

When you shop at 4x4 Down Under you don’t have to worry about:
  • Annoying and dishonest ’Sales Timers’ that simply reset every few hours and are there to coerce you into buying.
  • Dishonest “low stock” labels, another coercive sales gimmick.
  • False “John just bought a…” alerts. Our customer alerts (bottom left) are 100% true and we're proud of them.
  • Being bombarded by trust badges and labels everywhere you look that mean nothing.
  • We don't spam! Your information is safe with us. It will never be shared or sold, or used to fill your inbox with garbage.
