The Carbon 12K V3X pulls 12,000lb (5443kg) in a single line. It uses a 6HP 12V motor through a 218:1 three-stage planetary gearbox, with an automatic brake in the motor housing end plate that holds load through the geartrain rather than the drum.

Carbon recommends a minimum of 650 CCA (cold cranking amps) for winching. The winch draws up to 390 amps at rated load, so battery condition matters more as pulls get longer or heavier. If you're planning repeated long pulls, an upgraded starting battery or an auxiliary battery is worth considering.

The kit includes a battery isolator switch, and it needs to be installed as part of the wiring. An unfused, unisolated power feed to a winch this size carries real risk if it's shorted against a body panel in an accident, so treat the isolator as a required part of the install rather than an optional extra. Refer to the winch's installation guide or a qualified auto electrician for the wiring itself.

The 9,000kg kinetic rope is a round, double-braided design that stretches more than a flat snatch strap, generally around 30 percent versus 15 to 20 percent for webbing, which spreads the load more gradually and reduces peak shock on your chassis and recovery points. Snatch straps still have their place, but the kinetic rope in this kit is built for a smoother pull. Connect to rated recovery points and keep bystanders clear during any dynamic recovery.

The recovery kit includes a 9,000kg kinetic rope, a 12,500kg winch recovery ring, a 12,000kg tree trunk protector, two 15,000kg soft shackles, two 4,750kg steel bow shackles, a pair of recovery gloves and a heavy duty three-layer carry bag.
