The MX4 is rated to support approximately 180 kg of evenly distributed weight when closed. This suits loading flat gear across the cover surface, but is not designed for concentrated loads or dynamic use. Ensure any load placed on top is spread as evenly as possible across all panels rather than on a single section.

The MX4 uses EPDM rubber perimeter seals on all panel edges and a dual-action tailgate seal at the rear to help manage water and dust ingress. Integrated drain tubes help channel any water that enters past the seals away from the tub floor. Like most tonneau covers, it is designed to reduce rather than completely prevent water entry, so sensitive gear should be bagged or containerised in wet conditions.

This cover (SKU UF-BAK-00003) is designed to suit RAM 2500 and 3500 models with a 6'4" bed without RAMBox. If your RAM 2500/3500 has RAMBox fitted, a separate part number is required. Please confirm your exact tub length and RAMBox configuration before ordering, as fitting the wrong version will affect how the rails and clamps seat on the bed.

BAK rates the MX4 as a Level 1 install with a typical time of under one hour. The cover uses a clamp-on system requiring no cutting, drilling, or trimming for the cover itself, although some vehicles may need minor drilling to route the drain tubes. Yes. The MX4 can be driven in a 2/3 open position or with all panels fully folded upright toward the cab. The 2/3 position covers the front section of the tub while leaving the rear open, which suits carrying taller or longer gear that would not fit under a closed cover. Integrated prop rods are designed to hold the cover securely in the fully open position.

Hard folding covers like the MX4 offer meaningfully better resistance to forced entry than soft alternatives. The aluminium panel construction is more resistant to cutting or puncturing, and BAK's patented auto-latching side rails lock the panels along their full length rather than just at the tailgate. A soft fold cover is lighter and easier to remove completely, but provides considerably less deterrence for tools, recovery gear, or work equipment left in the tub overnight or on a jobsite.
