Long Range Fuel Tanks
Long Range Fuel Tanks for RAM, Ford and Chevrolet Pickup Truck
If you're running a heavy-duty American pickup in Australia, the factory fuel tank is one of the first limitations you run into. RAM 2500s, Ford F-250s, and Chevrolet Silverados weren't engineered with the Australian outback in mind. Most leave the factory with 90 to 130 litres of capacity, which is workable around town but limiting the moment you head somewhere remote.
Towing a caravan, covering a long station run, or heading into country without a servo for 200-plus kilometres turns fuel range into a genuine planning exercise. Long range replacement tanks are the most practical fix, and the range we carry is built specifically for that.

What a Long Range Fuel Tank Actually Is
There are a few ways to add fuel capacity to a truck. In-bed auxiliary tanks, jerry can mounts, portable transfer setups. But a long range replacement tank is a different thing entirely. These units mount in the same underbody position as your factory tank, using the same mounting points and connections. No cargo space is sacrificed, nothing sits in your tub, and nothing interferes with your tow hitch or accessories. They're not a workaround. They're a proper upgrade.
The tanks we stock work with your existing fuel system. The sending unit transfers from your factory tank to the new one, keeping your fuel gauge operational. The result is a vehicle that drives exactly as it did before, just with significantly more range on tap.
What to Look For
Not all long range tanks are equal, and a few things separate a quality unit from something that'll cause problems down the track.
Material is the starting point. The best underbody tanks are made from XLHDPE, cross-linked high-density polyethylene, a military-grade polymer that's seamless, impact-resistant, and built to handle temperature extremes. It's significantly tougher than the standard linear polyethylene used in most OEM fuel tanks, and it's the same material the US Department of Defence uses in combat vehicle fuel systems.
Fitment comes second. Vehicle-specific geometry is non-negotiable. A tank engineered to the exact dimensions of your platform will sit correctly, maintain factory ground clearance, and not interfere with mechanical systems. Universal or approximate-fit tanks create problems that aren't always obvious at install time.
Warranty comes third. A lifetime warranty on a fuel tank isn't just marketing. It's a signal of how much confidence a manufacturer has in their own product, and it's the minimum we'd expect from any tank we carry.
Brand We Stock
We currently carry Titan Fuel Tanks across the range. Founded in the USA in 2003, Titan built their reputation by addressing one problem: diesel truck owners who wanted to go further without planning every route around fuel stops. Their tanks are made from XLHDPE, manufactured in the USA, and backed by a lifetime warranty. As we expand this category we'll bring in further brands and fitments, but Titan gives us strong coverage across the American pickup platforms most commonly registered in Australia.

Cab configuration and tub length both affect fitment. Not all tanks suit every variant of the same model year. If you're not certain which tank applies to your truck, contact us before ordering.
Installation
Long range replacement tanks are designed as a direct swap for your factory unit. Most owners with a reasonable level of mechanical confidence, access to jack stands, and a basic toolkit can complete the installation in a few hours. The process involves draining and dropping the factory tank, transferring the sending unit, and fitting the new tank with the supplied hardware. Instructions are included. If you're not comfortable working under a vehicle on a fuel system, a workshop installation is the sensible call.
One thing worth noting: once you're carrying significantly more fuel, your dash distance-to-empty readout may not accurately reflect the new capacity. Check the individual product page for your fitment for further detail on this.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between a long range replacement tank and an auxiliary tank?
A replacement tank swaps out your factory unit and mounts in the same underbody location. An auxiliary tank is an addition, typically mounted in the bed, that supplements your existing capacity. Replacement tanks are the cleaner solution: no cargo space lost, no hitch interference, and no separate tank to manage or switch between.
Will my fuel gauge still work after fitting a long range tank?
Yes. The sending unit transfers from your factory tank to the new one, so your gauge continues to function. Your dash distance-to-empty readout may not accurately reflect the increased capacity until recalibrated. Check the product page for your specific fitment for details on this.
Does fitting a replacement tank affect my tow hitch or ground clearance?
The tanks we carry are engineered to maintain factory clearances and sit clear of the tow hitch. Each tank is matched to the specific vehicle geometry. If your truck has aftermarket suspension fitted, confirm clearances for your setup before installing.
How difficult is the installation?
Most owners with some mechanical experience and the right equipment can complete the job in a few hours. Hardware and instructions are included. If you're not comfortable working on a fuel system, have a workshop handle the install.
How much range will I actually get?
That depends on the vehicle, engine, load, and driving conditions. As a general guide, near-doubling your fuel capacity delivers a proportional gain in range, which for most of the diesel pickups we carry fitments for means real-world touring range well above 1,000 kilometres on a single fill.
What warranty do the tanks carry?
The Titan Tanks we stock are backed by a lifetime warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the original purchaser.
Which trucks do you currently have tanks for?
We have fitments for RAM 2500 and 3500 (2013–2025), Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty (2017–2024), and Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500/3500 (2017–2019). Use the filters above to find your vehicle, or get in touch if you need help confirming fitment.
